Poland is advocating for a permanent U.S. military presence within its borders, according to President Karol Nawrocki. Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Nawrocki emphasized the importance of this issue in his discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump. The Polish leader highlighted the ongoing cooperation between the two nations in defense and economic matters.
Nawrocki noted that Trump expressed support for enhancing the U.S. military footprint in Poland, a move aimed at bolstering security ties. The discussions between Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth are expected to further explore this initiative. Nawrocki stated that deepening the security partnership with the United States is vital for Poland’s position within NATO.
In addition to military collaboration, Nawrocki discussed the delivery of U.S. defense equipment to Poland and expressed a desire to accelerate contracts and investment projects involving American defense companies. The Polish president also pointed out that these efforts are part of a broader strategy to strengthen military and economic ties with the United States.
Beyond security, Nawrocki is also focused on securing Poland’s permanent membership in the G20. He indicated that Poland is actively engaging with other governments, including the African Union, to garner support for this ambition. This goal was a key topic in his address to the UN General Assembly, where he also touched on regional and global crises, demographic challenges, and the persecution of Christians.
