Polish President Karol Nawrocki has called for enhanced economic and strategic ties between Poland and the United States, suggesting the establishment of a regional service hub for U.S. military equipment in Poland. Addressing the Polish-American Economic Summit in New York, Nawrocki emphasized Poland’s potential role as a significant hub for liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Central and Eastern Europe, leveraging U.S. supplies.
Nawrocki proposed that Poland should not merely purchase American defense equipment but also involve Polish companies in its production, development, and servicing. He specifically recommended setting up a European PAC-3 service center in Poland, utilizing the nation’s existing industrial capabilities and local enterprises.
The Polish president also highlighted the energy sector as a key area of cooperation, referencing Poland’s plans to construct its first nuclear power plant and its increasing LNG imports from the United States. Nawrocki noted that Poland is already redistributing some U.S. gas to Ukraine and expressed a desire to further expand its influence as a regional energy hub.
In addition to energy and defense, Nawrocki identified opportunities for collaboration in the automotive and pharmaceutical supply chains. He mentioned the Port of Gdańsk as a strategic entry point for American goods into Central Europe, potentially supporting future reconstruction initiatives in Ukraine.
