Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is set to visit Việt Nam from October 24 to 26, following an invitation from Vietnamese Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng. The visit aims to bolster bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly in areas such as trade, education, science, culture, and political cooperation.
The diplomatic relationship between Việt Nam and Poland dates back to February 4, 1950, and marks 75 years in 2025. The partnership has been characterized by diplomatic dialogue, economic cooperation, and cultural exchanges. In a move to further solidify ties, the upcoming visit by Prime Minister Tusk follows the official trip made by former Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính to Poland in January 2025, when both nations expressed intentions to upgrade their bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.
Trade between the two countries has been robust, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $3.94 billion in 2025, a 14.8% increase from the previous year. Việt Nam primarily exports electronics, machinery, garments, footwear, coffee, and other agricultural products to Poland, while Poland exports machinery, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and food products to Việt Nam.
Tusk’s visit represents an opportunity to explore additional economic prospects and enhance cooperation across key sectors. Both Việt Nam and Poland are keen on developing closer commercial ties and fostering collaboration in education, scientific research, and cultural exchanges.
This visit underscores the ongoing efforts by the two nations to deepen their longstanding relationship and advance their shared economic and diplomatic interests, reflecting a commitment to strengthening ties and exploring future collaborative opportunities.
